Speech 8: Where This Moment then Forth (draftcopy1)

Even by lukewarm seas the depths that drew us knew us not very much - yet that the nutrients flow pandering to the larger currents to the motions of the small creatures but sometimes if by rare chance a sea monster of many cells coalesced to have formed when nobody saw came about and shifted all the streams and the waters, then the sea did shift in ways not so well understood.  Today I speak and write to you about this very moment when a defeat has generated but a few eddies, yet the puddling spread this time not in chaos but in order is where the focus should be spent.  Many years ago when we were mere babes we imagined a world better than the world we live in, that wonderful things should pervade, and many things to our awe should come to sight, so the world is made ever better but only for that we get older, more mature, more handsome or beautiful, then too all the realities should merge into a grandeur that sparkles and shines.  I speak today to the military forces about this moment in time, a moment that will be history ever more, for that a monster was defeated in its most specialized cell, and wish to remind the men and women of all kinds of uniform what this win is about, for the future.

Today we stand in the trench and ridge that appears not so solid, but begin to psychedelia ways ebb a little, and fall somewhat.  It is not in ignorance the unusual appears to us, but from a reality that is larger.  There is a reason, no, but that a rationale is possible, should be possible, for that reasons in cause and effect could be discerned, yes, already by those who read into the many minutes, and found some piece of a larger rationale - the collecting of ourselves in uniform and civilian clothes, we came together to believe in something the same intangible, despite all the differences by affiliations, associations, and life experiences - all this not because it was simplistically granted, but rather because the rationale could be made, some day, this thought from a past, and then by bits and pieces emerged in the field, quite large, to then be brought now this piece now that piece, to assemble slowly - like the molecules of nucleic acids, by a order higher than each nucleic acid building block begin to reason together into something of intellect, this intelligence by our own beliefs to have been granted from what is grand, a lordship higher than mortals, so the order in which we live, a kingdom to come that arrived not even just today, but yesterday, before this moment of winning against the cell of monstrosity did come about.

But what order do I wish to speak of today?  A quick announcement the previous paragraphs, what to be addressed is what now, the rights to bear on behalf of the country but first the people, this is typical of our thinking, to what of us as means, to what of ends as what we already knew from the early hours of childhood's family?  Mere babes.  This is the misconception for that the uniform has in times of anticipation and apprehension been suspected.  Hard to understand, this, the notion we have held so dear, the honor and the service, this is questioned intuitively... What do we fight?  What is the privilege to live in the society?  Who are those we serve, and who do we serve.

Yes, in these times we must discover that just like the civilians, we shall learn as we go along and make our way.  The considerations are different today from what they were in the times of our grandfathers, and herein the trouble that is a problem that has the problem solving and then finally the resolution path.  We are seeking to make peace for our societies, within the task is the rendering of alliance, the discovery of strength, the piecing together of logic, the actualization of technology, and most importantly of all, the listening to the order.  The order is not some strictly material thing, made of wood, or sound, or guidelines, but rather in the silence between the notes is heard like memory recalled from the sight of the moon, or the music heard between symphonic beats of the wind.  The hour strikes, and we salut the flag, not because we have to, but because we wish to hear and to remember.  Always between what is explicit are all the hidden tones in all intricacy and intimate complexity, the components of the logic we have learned by heart in moments we do not take care to recall but in listening the platform of leadership has spoken, and we will notice we have known it all along.

This moment is unusual, or is it?  Winning and losing is something we do not always recall when the banner of "Security" is waved as a flag to indicate that peace times and prosperity should be set forward as the objective, this over petty differences that would incite us to fight.  Yet, in order to reach the goal, that is, of peace, of prosperity, of contentment and business and peace again, in an ever revolving cycle, there must have been wins along the way, in order that triumph could be reached for, and won.  What these wins are, that is the subject of our inquiry.  Some wins are worth the toil, some wins are not.  Some losses are unacceptable, others admissible for the gains otherwise.  What can become permanent, we remind ourselves, is some sort of order that admit each of us to a greater peace, happiness, contentment, and business, and peace again.  Some higher aims are allotted for, later then from now, so the toil today is worthwhile.  We must question, each of us yes, but also to the hierarchies we situate within, what we are reaching for.  The question must touch us, we must allow ourselves to be touched by the question, sometimes, when the hour of rest is upon us, may it be minutes between tasks, or the hour before slumber. Our humanity is what ties us to the people who make up the force, and too to the people we aim to protect.

The destination is our home, our country, our land and people of order.  Can you all keep this in mind as well as my own discretion to keep this in mind?  We should not lose sight of what the honor should keep, what the service is for, and why the people should join with us to seek the goal which tends to sweep under the larger currents.  We are of all different backgrounds.  When we are on our own, we have made different assertions.  We collect each ourselves to perform the work, in this is both honor and service.  We must maintain level heads, and seek the higher intellect not only from our superiors, but from each other, and from those we stand with and beside at different hours of the day.  We shall be humble, and know not so much in the morning of what we think we know, but seek the meaning, the memories, the keepsakes, and the goals that belong to each of us, to that we are all born of this land and country.

The notion of order, I cannot understate, is a flimsy thought at first, quite gossamer, quite intangible, and yet if we look for it in every minute of the field of vision, when we learn to see it in the minute, in the small, but also in the life size, and in the grand, that is when we start to discover, and later, we would be learning, and assuming that others and our own being born of the same country are just like us, realize our own ways as countrymen, as citizens, as men and women who serve proudly the country that loves you in an embrace that is invisible.  Where we reach our goal is yet years from this moment, when a significant win has been made, that moment when we each has won our own small triumph, we cannot wait to reach that moment in time, in the golden light of the sun, under the soft breeze of the tree, at our own barbeque in the backyard.  What is security if not guarantee that each countryman to himself or herself and his or her own loved ones can be held by himself or herself to be safe to pursue what the land has always called the American Dream?  We have behaved ourselves, we tell ourselves, but we can be better, as those involved in the win I mentioned have been, for decades now chasing after that small specialized cell, we must remember the real bits and pieces that are to order, that are to our country, to our dream, to the new idea of Security, we safeguard our own mortal selves, and each others', and those we serve the country and friendships in all the ways that make our work of order and meaning which is to all ways to ensure our way of life and all that we love.
